Humble Beginnings

ONE day, a friend who is a pastor came to my house to present a product from well-known local vegetables such as malunggay, sili, saluyot, kamote, and kulitis. He emphasized that those products can heal different diseases. But after the presentation, I got so curious about how it became an instant vegetable juice.

I got interested in the product but, at that time my family was really in financial difficulty. My mother suffered a stroke twice, and I was not able to help financially for her hospitalization. Eventually, she died in our province, not able to see her.

AND because of that, my desire to have a healthy life became strong, and there was a time my granddaughters were not interested in eating vegetables, yet they were interested in eating bread. What I did was I bought a ready mix hot cake, and before I mixed it, I gathered five different vegetable leaves and placed them on the mixture without them knowing.

AFTER some time, I attended an agri-seminar. I was so fortunate that one of the resource speakers taught us how to produce vegetable powder, and it was hands-on teaching. There was a rice shortage during the time of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The former President emphasized the utilization of herbal powder, especially malunggay, an alternative to rice.

WHEN I got home, right away, I started drying malunggay. After four days, I have now dried malunggay leaves and made them into a powder using a blender. I started doing it in 2008.

WHEN I tried the first product, I started drying other herbs and turning them into powder. While selling my different herb products, I decided to put them into capsules. That particular time, a well-known drug store sold empty capsules. With the idea, I made products into capsules.

UNTIL, one customer bought malunggay capsule and turmeric, and after four days, she called and invited me to her residence. Sharing her testimony; Since her frequent use of malunggay and turmeric capsules, her swelling gums healed.

AFTERWARD, she asked me; if I am going to make it a business, can I provide an adequate supply of the products. Did I ask her; how many volumes? She replied, one ton per month of malunggay powder. Since 2011, I have regularly supplied her with the quantity she needs.

FROM then on, I became a supplier of tons of malunggay flakes to Rose Herbal Trading, also with other herbal products. I also became a supplier to Philherbs.

AT present, NSL HERBS is a supplier of different herbal capsules to wellness centers in Paranaque. We regularly joined bazaars during Doctor Galvez-Tan’s seminar once a month. Aside from these, We have distributors in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
